The Colony’s trusted orthodontist

Dr. Glenn Kriegerdr. krieger headshot spent 20 years as an accomplished general dentist before going back to school to pursue his dream of becoming an orthodontist. He mentors less experienced dentists, and has lectured globally for more than a decade, so you know when he’s treating you, you’re in the hands of an accomplished cosmetic dentist and orthodontist.

Dr. Krieger has attended hundreds of hours of courses specifically devoted to the esthetics of the smile and the role that individual tooth shape and form play in producing a pleasing smile. He believes every patient deserves to have a unique smile that takes into account their specific tooth shape, the movement of their lips, and the shape of their face. This individualized approach and compilation of the aspects of dentistry plays a role in what Dr. Krieger calls “smile design.”

The Colony Braces

Dr Krieger with a young female patientWhen it comes to straightening teeth, traditional braces are one of the most efficient tools we have. Metal or ceramic brackets are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with Dr. Krieger, these components apply gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.

The Colony braces are an excellent choice for correcting oral issues that range from simple to complex. Because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. In addition, braces don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making them a cost-effective option for patients on a budget.

The Colony Invisalign

Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. These aligners are very popular with our teen and adult patients, and Invisalign is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.

Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material that is virtually invisible. The trays are designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth, and are generally switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps teeth moving in the right direction. Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job. Neglecting to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the end results and also add time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign tends to be most effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. A consultation with Krieger Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
